The “Food Quality Label” for harissa was launched in 2014 to protect the
high quality Tunisian harissa as a local product from imitations on international markets and to meet the requirements of a growing number
of Tunisian and foreign customers who demand more guarantees on the
authenticity and origin of the product. GICA (the Tunisian group for canned
food industries) is the body responsible for the management of the Food
Quality Label for canned Harissa.
Specifications relating to obtaining the Tunisian quality label for the production of canned Harissa of superior quality have been drawn up
setting strict production requirements that each producer must comply
with.

The logo on the packaging of certified Tunisian Harissa is a guarantee of anauthentic traditional recipe as well as the quality and freshness of itscarefully selected ingredients.

Manufacturers of Food Quality Label certified harissa are subject to internal and external controls in order to ensure the constant quality of the product and to guarantee the rigorous respect of the specifications.
