Conserve de Thon

The tuna canning industry has experienced significant fluctuations during the 1990s. Indeed, around 1992 and 1993 the activity was in danger of disappearing because of the shortage of raw material, which became increasingly scarce. Then, in 1994, this activity experienced an important growth thanks to the facilities granted to the industry to import tuna for conservation. Following this decision, the number of operators in this field increased significantly and the processing of tuna evolved steadily from less than 1 000 tonnes in 1993 to more than 20 000 tonnes (average over the last five years).

Currently, the industrial fabric of this activity includes 16 units (with the pole concentrated in the south-eastern region) with a total daily processing capacity of 260 tons of tuna.
